A .44 (RUSSIAN) SIX-SHOT SERVICE REVOLVER, MODEL 'JAPANESE CONTRACT 2ND MODEL RUSSIAN', serial no. 118,
circa 1873, with blued round 7in. barrel, raised sighting rib signed 'SMITH & WESSON' together with the address and patent dates to December 1877, ending in the wording 'REISSUE JULY 25 1871', pinned crescent fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to the barrel-latch, the top-strap with filled inlet above where the top-strap screw should be, fluted cylinder, break-open frame with automatic ejection, the ejector housing stamped with Japanese characters (believed artillery markings), chequered walnut grips, lanyard ring at heel and colour-hardened trigger-guard bow, the whole retaining much original finish
